Department for Female Students of Kyung Hee University (KHU) has held communication workshop which is called ¡®Non-violence Communication Connecting Heart to Heart¡¯ for undergraduate female and male students. It is going on as a form of small group consultation with a total of 17 students, 10 female students from July 2 to 4 and 7 male students from July 4 to 6.

The purpose of this program is to practice how to communicate with other people in a non-violent way. Participants are sharing their own personal stories based on trust and looking back on their way of conversation.

The first day of workshop is about ways of communication causing interruption and alienation, elements of non-violence communication, and students talk about what they want the other party to be changed. The second day is about looking for their desire and requesting effectively. On the third day, students practice 4 responses selectively when they heard unpleasant things.

Jung Woo-sung, who is participating in the workshop for male students, says ¡°It is a good chance to understand why trouble arisen during conversation¡±. Another participant Kang Sung-Yun expresses his opinion saying, ¡°In the past, I just felt angry without knowing the reason. Now, I can explain why.

Kim Jung-hwa, deputy of Department for Female Students says, ¡°Most participants told me that they learned how to express themselves truly thorough this workshop, and it was good because they could share wholehearted stories.¡± She added, ¡°I¡¯m planning to increase counsel programs such as group and individual consultations so that students can understand themselves and humans better.¡±
