Central Museum displays with breath of Koryeo

Central Museum of our University will have held 'Koryeo Relics Exhibition' in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of its foundation under the theme of 'Breath of Goryeo with flourishing Korea' by January 31, 2007.

The exhibition has been directed to offer an opportunity for Kyungheeians to observe and experience Koryeo culture. 'Koryeo Relics Exhibition' is presenting 119 items of Koryeo period, which is divided into metal crafts and ceramics. Ancient people had a brilliant craft to deal with bronze and the craft has been flourished in Koryeo dynasty. This exhibition is displaying with the instruments which show the making methods and processes as well as the relics. Also spectators could touch and handle some broken pieces of ceramics, thereby it will produce an experiential learning for them.

Kim Jin-young, the director of Central Museum said, "Even though Koryeo people had been undergoing all sorts of hardship internally and externally, they accomplished cultural successive works recognized with the essential of our culture such as celadon porcelain, Tripitaka Koreana(consisting over eighty thousand blocks), metal type and so on. However, Koryeo has little attention compared with the period of the Three States and Joseon. Thus, the exhibition is expected to demonstrate the superiority of Koryeo culture and facilitate the study of Koryeo."

Central Museum of Kyung Hee University was founded in 1995 as exhibition office and raised to museum in 1996. At present, the museum commemorates the 40th anniversary and possesses 6,374 items. In addition, it has held various exhibitions like exhibition of roof-end titles of Koguryo, Kyung Hee history with black and white pictures, Koguryo pictures exhibition and so on.
