CAPS held a international conference


CAPS(Center for Asia-Pacific Studies) in Kyung Hee University(KHU) held international conference in commemoration of the 20th opening anniversary titled 'Retrospect and Prospect of Korean Studies as Regional Studies' from January 5 to 6 in Dalian University of Foreign Language in China.

This conference consisted of presentation and seminar of professors majored in Korean studies from Korea, China, Japan, Russia. They discussed the demand of Korean studies which is increasing in East-South Asia and compared each nation's Korean studies program. It suggested the foundation for right direction of Korean studies.

In this day, Choue Chung-won, chairman of CAPS gave a congratulatory address for the conference and participants presented their papers on Korean studies status and methodology. Kang Hyun-hwa, prof. of department of Korean Language, reported on 'Instruction of Korean Language, Analysis and Operation Plan on Korean Studies Curriculum.' Sim Jung-chang, member of Korean Studies Institution in Peking University in China, released paper on 'The Status and Tasks of Korean Studies in China.' Koshemyako, professor of Korean Studies Institution in Far Eastern National University in Russia, presented on 'The Past and Future of Korean Education in Russia.' Park Pori, professor of Arizona State University in America, reported on 'The Status of Korean Studies in North America.

Han Sang-yun, director of CAPS, said "As the Wave of Korea, recently the interest of Korea has been increased day by day in China, Japan, Russia, East-South Asia and so on. CAPS will make every effort to build Korean studies as regional studies through the investigation status."
