Donation exhibition of the deceased professor Choi to be hold


Kyung Hee University(KHU) will hold a donation exhibition of the deceased professor Choi Duck-hyu in the art gallery of the college of fine arts from March 5 to 29.

This exhibition could be held because the professor Choi has donated his 100 works on December 2006 to the university where he had been in office from 1996 to 1987.

The professor was born in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do in 1922 and graduated from college of art, Tokyo Imperial University. He was an artist of Western paintings as well as an independence fighter who participated in the resistance war to Japan as the Korean Restoration Army. He had successively filled various posts such as the National Art Exhibition invited artist, director and Asia president for International Society for Education Through Art(inSEA), and the National Art Exhibition judge. Moreover, he had attended the international conferences several times as the chief director of inSEA Korea Committee. He had been in office teaching art education in the college of education since 1966, and he passed away after working as the president of Kyung Hee woman junior college, KHU education college, and KHU honorary professor.

He created his unique art world through deep inquiry on Korea¡¯s nature and played a part to connect between modern and contemporary artists¡¯ world through strong passion and expression technique.

The works for this exhibition are about from 1060 to the middle of 1990 and total 100 which are 16 watercolor and 84 oil paintings such as Hyangwonjong¡¯s fall, Bangkok, Fall scenery, Scenery of Yangsury town, and Mt. Dobong¡¯s landscape. Admission fee is free. If you have any questions, feel free to call the art gallery(961-0640).
