The 5th launch ceremony for Kyung Hee volunteers


These days, social services as well as pursuit of learning in college are getting important as society develops. University students can learn many things by doing public services. First, they can find what they should do in the social community for themselves. Second, they can have a chance to learn what real world is like. Moreover, they can solve practical problems which the society requires with local residents,

“The 5th launch ceremony and orientation for Kyung Hee volunteers” titled “building a better local community” was held in the General Lecture Building B 117 on March 15. It has been played important part for university’s social service.

Kyung Hee volunteers program was started on September, 2003 on the purpose of building a better local community through local services in Dongdaemun area including Kyung Hee University.

The number of the volunteer group is 200 every year with a total of 1,000 till now. Volunteers are doing efficient social services connecting with university, students, and local community. This has become true social service program going wherever the help is needed as well as local community.

Kim Yoon-sic, a leader of the 5th Kyung Hee volunteers said, “I have been interested in various social services majoring in consultation of the welfare for the elderly. That’s why I have participated in Kyung Hee volunteers from second semester in 2006. We are going to do public services with local residents from Hoegi Station to school area which is not only well-known places in 2007. I’d like to make the university area ‘clean town’ which everyone wants to come.

On March starting new semester, it would be a good idea to participate in making ‘clean town’ with Kyung Hee volunteers.
